Global Network of Civil Society Organisations for Disaster Reduction

Global Network of Civil Society Organisations for Disaster Reduction

Position description

We are the Global Network of Civil Society Organisations for Disaster Reduction (GNDR), the largest global network of organisations committed to working together to improve the lives of people affected by disasters worldwide. Since being established in 2007, we have grown into a network of 1,965 member organisations across 131 countries, representing millions of people on the frontlines of hazards, climate change and mass displacement. Through transformative, evidence-led programming and powerful advocacy, we are driving climate action and disaster resilience alongside our members across the globe.

Overview

Our 2020-2025 strategy, Local Leadership for Global Impact, has been instrumental in shaping our work through its three strategic goals:

  • Strengthen the collaboration, solidarity and mobilisation of CSOs
  • Champion a localisation movement
  • Strive for risk-informed development

As the strategic period draws to a close, GNDR seeks to initiate the process of developing the new global strategy, through an inclusive and transparent process, which will begin in January 2026.

Objectives of development of GNDR new strategy

Building on the findings of the mid-term review of the current strategy and the insights of the parallel process for the final review of the current strategy, the development of GNDR’s Global Strategy 2026-30 will focus on the following objectives:

  • Determine GNDR strategic position, including identification of strategic issues and internal and external analysis
  • Revise or/and develop the organisational Mission Statement, Vision, Values and roles
  • Define strategic priorities and long-term objectives and outcomes
  • Define the Strategy MEAL Framework, including targets and KPIs

The review will be conducted remotely and adopt a participatory and inclusive approach to ensure diverse perspectives and high-quality analysis.
