Position description

SAIC is hiring a mid-level International Policy Analyst to join our team, dedicated to the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)). This pivotal role is at the heart of an organization spearheading the development of groundbreaking capabilities for the Department of Defense, driving innovation, and securing our nation’s technological edge. This role offers the unique opportunity to support an organization and mission that is defining the future of defense technology. Your work will ensure that OUSD(R&E) remains at the forefront of innovation, all while navigating the intricate landscape of congressional interactions with professionalism and strategic insight. The position will in the Pentagon (Arlington, VA).

Job duties include:

  • Support detailed research and analysis in products related to international affairs issues and partnership.
  • Support relationship building initiatives, strengthening existing partnerships and attracting new ones.
  • Works independently and as a team in coordinating engagement activities and solving problems.
  • Capable of coordinating political, military, security cooperation, and interagency issues related to strategic policy and security activities, and its compliance with U.S. programs and requirements.
  • Ability to assist in the contribution to negotiate strategies and participates in the development of policy statements to protect and ensure DoD’s interests.
  • Support and deliver executive correspondence, such as decision memos, read-aheads, daily updates, and meeting minutes.
  • Support the development of programmatic and technical material required for position papers, reports, briefings, testimony, and Congressional inquiries.
  • Support development of correspondence and overview briefings on political, military, and security cooperation.
  • Liaise and coordinate with counterparts at both internal and external organizations on political-military, security cooperation.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and action officer to provide actionable advice to the CTO Leadership, and other senior officials within OUSD(R&E), as appropriate.
  • Organize and facilitate internal and external communications on a wide array of subjects. Examples include internal and external tasks; program reviews; congressional directives, engagements and events; workshop, conference and other speaking invitations and events.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • US citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s degree with ten (10) years of relevant experience. Master’s degree with (eight) 8 or more years of experience.
  • Strong leadership, problem identification/resolution skills, flexibility, initiative, and a proven ability to work with Senior Executives efficiently and effectively.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience writing and critically reviewing white papers, briefings, correspondence, and reports.
  • Exceptional organizational and teambuilding skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in the Pentagon at OSD, Joint Staff, or other high-level organization.
  • Extensive experience in the Pentagon at OSD, Joint Staff, or other high-level organization.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Political science, international affairs/relations.
