UNRWA is the largest UN operation in the Middle East with more than 30,000 staff. UNRWA is funded almost entirely by voluntary contributions.  If you are looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a tangible difference for one of the most vulnerable communities in the world, UNRWA would like to hear from you.  The Information Security Officer (Systems) reports to the Chief Digital Risk Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Administers, implements and maintains security systems, supporting the central enterprise risk management of application and systems, providing solutions and remediation to those. 
  • Designs and implements data confidentiality, data availability, and data integrity processes & procedures. 
  • Ensures application’s vulnerabilities are identified and manages and documents the remediation tasks accordingly.
  • Administers and manages of security platforms and related applications. 
  • Provides technical support to other information systems development staff and to end-users on issues related to systems security, technical controls audits and risk management.
  • Develops technical documentation and guidance on proper and secure installation, creation, handling and maintenance of data, including imports, exports, validation, and data protection procedures. 
  • Researches, evaluates and recommends new security technologies; establishes and implements industry best practices and standards regarding server’s security, data confidentiality and availability, and efficient data management processes. 
  • Assists in designing and building data & system security breaches/issues monitoring, detection and response platforms. 
  • Implements security strategies to maintain security of user-level access rights to systems and databases. 
  • Maintains security by testing and reviewing applications, database systems & platforms patches and upgrades as necessary.

Education:

  • A university degree from an accredited educational institution in computer science, information technology, electrical/computer engineering or other related discipline.
  • Formal technical training in Microsoft Server technologies.

Work Experience:

  • At least five years professional work experience in administering enterprise systems, and servers and applying application security techniques is required.   
  •  Advanced knowledge and experience in Microsoft technologies specially network infrastructure, security administration and servers management is required.   
  • A university degree from an accredited institution in computer science, information technology, electrical/computer engineering or other related discipline is required.   
  • Formal technical training in Microsoft Server technologies is required.   
  • Knowledge of security automation tools & techniques is desirable.   
  • Knowledge of MS Servers is desirable.   
  • ITIL knowledge and training is desirable.   
  • Knowledge of UNRWA’s operations and computer facilities environment is desirable.   
  • Are you currently residing in Duty station. Please specify your current location. It is required.    – Do you have any current or past affiliations with non-governmental organisations, academic institutions, political organisations, military, or have you engaged in activities or made any public statements, that could be seen to impact your neutrality, objectivity or independence in the performance of your duties for the UN / UNRWA. This is required.

Languages:

Very good command of written and spoken English.
