Position description

Apply for GIZ’s fully funded traineeships 2025. No prior experience required. Paid entry-level roles for recent graduates in international development and global cooperation.

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is offering paid traineeships in 2025, open to recent graduates and young professionals from around the world. These fully funded entry-level roles require no prior work experience and are designed to prepare participants for long-term careers in international development, public policy, or global cooperation.

As a globally recognized development agency, GIZ works in over 120 countries on behalf of the German government and other international partners. These traineeships are part of GIZ’s effort to build future development leaders by giving participants hands-on experience through active project work either in GIZ headquarters or in its field offices.

This opportunity is ideal for those looking to gain practical exposure to the development sector while contributing to meaningful, real-world impact.

Trainees will support GIZ teams in various areas depending on project and departmental needs. Tasks may include:

  • Assisting in the coordination and implementation of development projects
  • Supporting research, data analysis, and field studies
  • Drafting reports, policy briefs, and presentations
  • Participating in internal and external meetings with stakeholders
  • Supporting communications and outreach campaigns
  • Helping with budgeting, administrative planning, and logistical support
  • Whether based in headquarters or abroad, trainees play a real role in development operations.

Qualifications

Education and Certification:

To be eligible for the GIZ Traineeship Programme, applicants must have:

  • A completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as:
    • International Relations
    • Development Studies
    • Political Science
    • Economics
    • Public Administration
    • Environmental Science
    • Engineering
    • IT or Data Science
    • Open to individuals with 0–2 years of professional experience
    • Demonstrated interest in international development or cooperation
    • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
