The Green Climate Fund (“GCF”) is a multilateral fund created to make a significant and ambitious contribution to the global efforts towards attaining the goals set by the international community to combat climate change.  GCF will contribute to the achievement of the ultimate objective of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In the context of sustainable development, GCF will promote the paradigm shift towards low-emission and climate-resilient development pathways by providing support to developing countries to limit or reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to the impacts of climate change, taking into account the needs of those developing countries particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change.  

GCF is governed by a Board, composed of an equal representation of developed and developing countries. The Fund is operated by an independent Secretariat headed by an Executive Director. The Secretariat of the Fund seeks to recruit a Events Support Consultant to join its team at its headquarters in Songdo, Republic of Korea. The Secretariat of the Fund seeks to recruit a Travel Support Consultant to join its team at its headquarters in Songdo, Republic of Korea. The assignment is initially set for 240 days over a 12-month period.

The Secretariat of the Fund seeks to recruit an Events Support Consultant to join its team at its

headquarters in Songdo, Republic of Korea, for a period of 12 months.

Duties and responsibilities:

The Consultant will report to the Events Management Specialist (Head of Events Management and Travel Unit). The Consultant will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Proactively supporting the process of scheduling and coordinating the planning and delivery of the physical and virtual events in close collaboration with the programmatic teams and divisions;
  • Facilitating the hosting of virtual events with the application of a range of solutions and integrations available, including liaison with ICT for complex arrangements and full ownership of the setup for smaller events; supporting basic video editing as required;
  • Analyzing the current practices, existing tools and emerging trends in the field of events management;
  • Supporting the development, documentation and systematization of relevant processes;
  • Providing general assistance on site at selected physical events and facilitating any other related operational tasks as assigned by the Events Management Specialist.

Required experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in supporting the organization of physical and virtual events involving high-level governmental officials and private sector representatives
  • Strong competence and autonomy in the use of standard software programmes: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access; good internet search skill is a plus; ability to use video-editing software a distinct advantage
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills; and
  • Fluency in English is essential (written and spoken); knowledge of another UN languages an advantage;
  • Experience working in intergovernmental organizations or similar.
